To me, There's nothing better than a ball game and a great bite to eat. I love having the stadium within walking distance, and I can't help but notice that downtown businesses are eating up references to baseball. That's why we checked out Stadium Grille.
Unfortunately, I couldn't fit it into my schedule before or after a game, but we were able to checked it out on a recent Tuesday afternoon. The menu is vast including everything from fresh salads ($3.95 to $6.95) to Italian dishes served with garlic bread and a small salad ($6.25 to $8.95). A selection of hand-made burgers are topped with picante salsa (Cajun Burger) and chili and cheddar (Chili Burger) for $5.75 each. One of the lunch
That sounded like a hit to me. We chose the hot turkey and cheese subs, and he added a side of fries for $1.25. We ordered at the counter and sat at one of the shiny, high-top tables near the window. It was bright and clean, a breath of fresh air in that part of the city. The restaurant is located in the Yorktowne Mall on Duke Street in York, which is just south of the Sovereign Bank Stadium, but the only view of the stadium is the lights. but the restaurant has a large flat-screen television and food to beat the ballpark's, so it's all right by me
The man at the counter brought our drinks and two small bags of Martin's Kettle Cook'd potato chips. Our subs came a short while later in paper-lined black baskets. The roll was toasted to a light crisp and was filled with quality turkey (not the preservative-filled variety that's watered down). Melted cheese oozed from the ends and it was neatly topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. The sandwich was so precisely put together that it was a candidate for a commercial spot on perfect sandwiches.
The taste matched. Every ingredient was fresh and it had an overall great flavor. Although the sub was large enough for two meals, neither one of us could quit. We took a few timeouts to regroup, but in the end we wiped them out. Hard as we tried, the thick and crispy french fries were abandoned for fear of explosion.
Owner Emmanuel Tsogas said the location used to be the Sunrise Restaurant until the end of 2006 when he and his business partners, Nick and Gus Georgakopoulos, bought the property and renovated it for a sports-bar feel. Tsogas said the business is getting better as the baseball season goes on.
Tsogas said his customers come to eat the fried chicken and brick-oven pizza in the casual and relaxed atmosphere.
“A lot of people are attracted to that and the friendly service,” he said.
