Summer temperatures in March and snow in April? Set your weather woes aside and head outdoors for a bite to eat: York County's restaurants are opening their patios and decks for the summer.
"We had some crazy weather over the past month," Jim Flinn said. As the restaurant manager for Bogey Macaws American Grille, Flinn knows the frustrations of waiting for warm weather. "It's a tease," he said.
But Bogey Macaws, part of the Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center complex in York Township, is ready and waiting for patrons. It even has a few new offerings - including a new location for its bar.
Originally right behind the hostess station, the bar was relocated "to be able to accommodate two different types of crowds," Flinn said. "It was difficult to run a bar in the middle of the dining room where we had the family entertainment center component."
Now, two large, garage-style doors on either side of the bar open out to the patio, extending the seating area in nice weather.
"We're now calling that The Roost," Flinn said.
Five TVs and 16 beers on draft round out the offerings on the 70-seat deck, not to mention live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights.
