Oh, don't forget DJ Pauly D.
The combination, when glancing at the Summer MixTape Festival lineup, seems odd. However, it might be the perfect mix of nostalgia and relevance to fill the stadium this weekend. The new two-day music festival showcases platinum-selling marquee acts, icons and pop stars.
New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys combine acronyms and will reunite on stage as NKOTBSB. Former heartthrobs 98 Degrees are scheduled to take the stage after a 10-year hiatus.
It doesn't matter that boy bands were cool 20 years ago. Their fans will still feel as if the faces of Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood are printed on their bunk-bed sheets.
Multiplatinum singer-songwriter and pop goddess Kelly Clarkson will remind festival-goers that the year is 2012. Carly Rae Jepsen, whose song "Call Me Maybe" has been No. 1 on Billboard's Top 100, will assist.
According to a news release, MixTape Festival aims to fill the gap in the festival circuit for mainstream music lovers, offering a festival experience of their own.
Translation: This festival and Bonnaroo aren't on the same planet.
Summer MixTape also includes exclusive fan events, interactive exhibits, food trucks, celebrity and special guest appearances and a spa oasis. Attendees can buy tickets for either or both days.
