The high point of the concert will be the performance of Mozart's "Coronation Mass," to be sung by all 140 members of the combined choirs, as well as the orchestra.
Each choir will also sing music to get the audience in the holiday spirit. The Camerata will sing a Magnificat by Heinrich Schutz, a Hanukah song called "Ocho Kandelikas" and a version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The Concert Choir will sing the French carol "Il est ne le divin infant," by Robert Wetzler and the College Choir will perform Gerald Finzi's Magnificat, accompanied by local organist David Erickson.
The audience will also have a chance to join in the Christmas cheer with a series of sing-a-long carols and the entire chapel will be decorated in Christmas lights for the occasion.
Performed with the help of Gettysburg College's Sunderman Conservatory of Music, the winter concert is a 70-year tradition. The conservatory offers music lessons and degree programs for Gettysburg College students and supports music ensembles in jazz, orchestra, percussions, band, and vocals.
