Kids can have fun while still learning this summer at The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue.
In addition to a host of events and summer-themed classes in the Chocolate Lab, the roster of activities includes two new events: Behind the Scenes Museum Camp and Fabulous Fridays. Summer hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Friday.
Following are special summer events:
Father's Day on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Free admission to The Museum Experience for dads.
July 2 through Sept. 1, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Visit the special exhibit, Chocolate Workers Wanted, to participate in a featured daily activity. Rotating activities include hatmaking, experimenting with molds, hand-coloring "bar cards" and sorting on an actual conveyor built. Activities are included with admission to the special exhibit.
July 11, 18 and 25; Aug. 1, 8 and 15, 2 to 4 p.m. — Free special activities will highlight unique aspects of The Hershey Story. Fabulous Fridays includes demonstrations and make-and-take activities designed especially for children ages 4 to 10.
Fabulous Friday themes — July 11: When Milton Hershey was a Boy; July 18: You and the Chocolate Factory; July 25: Art All Around; Aug. 1: Out of the Rain Forest; Aug. 8: What's the Story?; Aug. 15: Cocoa Bean Journey.
Behind the Scenes
For ages 9 to 11. July 14-18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Kids will learn about the fascinating world of museum work in this weeklong camp. Kids will learn first-hand from museum curators and encounter objects and areas of the museum not normally open to the public. Campers will create a mini-exhibit and show it off to family members during a reception at the conclusion of the camp. Registration required; call 717-520-5596 or email email@example.com.
