Acts of Kindness Theatre Company is celebrating its 10th year of performances with one if its most spectacular productions yet, said director Rene Staub.
"Tarzan," based on the 1999 Disney animated film, is swinging into the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center at the end of July.
Known for numbers like "You'll Be in My Heart" and "Strangers like Me," the musical tells the story of an infant boy adopted by a tribe of gorillas. Grappling with the differences between himself and his family, Tarzan comes across a hunting expedition and meets others humans for the first time.
"The whole story is about motherly love and the power of family," Staub said. "We wanted something that was really family oriented the community could connect to for our tenth performance."
With more than 40 local cast members dancing, singing and flying across the stage, the audience is sure to enjoy their night out at the Eichelberger, Staub said.
But it wouldn't be an Acts of Kindness production, Staub pointed out, without a little giving back, so all proceeds are being donated to the Adams County Arts Council.
"Our motto here is 'giving our hearts through art,'" Staub said. "It's something we love doing and the community can feel good about supporting."
