Top 10 Christmas movies of all time
Christmas has so many traditions that go with it. From presents, to family, to religion; it's just a great time of the year. One of my favorite things about the holiday is getting together with my loved ones to watch the great holiday films.
Here are my top 10 Christmas films of all time.
10. "Jingle All the Way" - A movie with Arnold and Sinbad in the hunt for Turbo Man? Sign me up, please!
9. "Ernest Saves Christmas" - You either love or hate the Ernest films. You know which side of the ball I'm on here, KnoWutIMean? In this flick, Ernest helps Santa Claus find his successor.
8. "The Santa Clause" - This was one of my favorite ones to watch when I was younger, and I continue to enjoy it just as much today. Tim Allen and his son have to take over for Santa Claus, after he knocks St. Nick off of his roof on Christmas Eve.
7. "Bad Santa" - Most of these are safe for the entire family, but this is the exception here. Billy Bob Thornton and Bernie Mac are successful in making a controversial, raunchy holiday film about a man playing Santa who is planning a robbery of the store he works at.
6. "A Christmas Story" - "You'll shoot your eye out!" What a classic movie, huh? If you haven't seen it yet, somehow, put your TV on today, as there's a marathon of it on Christmas Eve each year.
5. "Christmas Vacation" - This is the movie my girlfriend - along with "Love Actually - insists on watching all of the time around the holidays. The National Lampoon movies are great in general, but the Christmas version stands head and shoulders above the rest.
4. "It's a Wonderful Life" - I have to throw it back a little bit, don't I? No matter your age, watch the class 1946 flick. Not only is it a good movie in general to watch, but it has a good message to go along with it, as well.
3. "Elf" - Santa! I know him! OK, well, I don't, but Buddy the Elf does. Will Farrell has maybe his most memorable performance in this holiday classic that features a man raised as an elf trying to fit in away from the North Pole. It was so successful, that the Broadway version actually came to Hershey at the beginning of the month.
2. "Die Hard" - What came first, the chicken or the egg? It's an age-old question, but it's not as controversial whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie. It is, in fact, and it's a movie that I watch each year around the holidays, believe it or not. Yippee Ki Yay....
1. "Home Alone" - It's not just my favorite Christmas movie, but it's pushing "Training Day," "American Gangster" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" as my favorite movie in general. I don't have to go into the plot, because if you're reading this, you've seen the movie. It's as simple as that. Although, I do find myself rooting for the Wet Bandits from time to time.
