Capitol Theatre gets the blues

CHAMBERSBURG - On Friday, Feb. 26, the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg will showcase the unstoppable force of slide guitar blues by Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers, the effortless groove and funk of Moondog Medicine Show and the high energy blues of Terry Oates &The Mudcats.

A hard driving, funky blues band from western Maryland, Moondog Medicine Show's blend of originals and covers are centered around the huge vocal power of Lana Spence, who's been compared to Janis Joplin, Tina Turner and Bonnie Rait. Individual band members have played with Big Brother and the Holding Company, David Sanborn, Jeff  “Skunk” Baxter, Gary US Bonds, Tim Curry and Dr. John.

The music of Terry Oates & The Mudcats, a high energy show blues band from Winchester, Virginia, is based on traditional blues influences with a modern flair. The group has many different influences and backgrounds, giving them a unique perspective. They combine jazz, rhythm and blues, Motown, rock ‘n roll and even classical into their own blues style, using a combination of guitar, bass, drums, horns and vocals.

Ray Fuller, an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, has electrified national and international audiences with his unique take on root-blues and rock.  Having shared the stage with most every iconic blues artist from Muddy Waters to Willie Dixon, his live show roster reads like a Who’s-Who of blues royalty.

From Ohio, Fuller was given his first guitar at the age of 8, a Gibson Melody Maker.  At an early age, he was inspired by the British Invasion; Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the Animals. He was quick to become the “go to act” throughout Ohio to open for iconic blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Albert Collins.

Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers are just back from touring Europe, receiving as many as five encores at packed venues. They have headlined blues events from Georgia to New York and from Canada to Germany.
