CV Sampler salutes 'potpourri and miscellaneous'

CHAMBERSBURG - The Cumberland Valley Sampler will present its 20th musical variety show, "Salute to Potpourri and Miscellaneous," at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Chambersburg.

Since its founding in 2004, CV Sampler, a daughter organization of the Chambersburg Community Theatre, has "saluted" various topics, including food, animals, education, love and romance, the family, and anatomy and physiology.

Accompanied by a live 10-piece band, the approximately 80-voice Music Maker Choruses will sing well-known songs including "God Bless America," “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Do You Hear The People Sing” from “Les Miserables,” and “How Great Thou Art.” The Kiddie Korps pre-school chorus will present a medley of American folk songs.

The audience will be invited to join the choruses in an old-fashioned sing-along medley of Broadway tunes. A military salute will acknowledge current and veteran service personnel.

Special guests scheduled to appear in this year's production are: Chambersburg Area Middle School North Cheerleaders, Don't Look Down, Mar-le-nie' Dancers, A World Apart (Taylor Piper and Kris Potter), Hub City Lindy Hop (Patti and Ty Mullin), Kathy Hewitt and Theodore, Heather Rose Dance Studio, Sophia Klein, Abby and Bob Rhone and Carol and Ron Garling, Farley J. Hornsworth III and Nellie.

This year's guest conductor is Babette Wenerd.

As always, audience participation, games, and $500 worth of prizes will be part of the family-friendly show.
