Home brew contest coming to Maryland


BOONSBORO, MD. - Blue Mountain Wine Crafters will host a brew competition and beer bottle label contest on Saturday, March 12, during the Quad State Beer Fest, "Shamrocked," at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.

The brew competition is open to home brewers across the four-state area who would like to have their beer judged and compete for prizes and recognition.

Best of Show will get two VIP tickets to the October Beer Festival, brewing supplies, and a chance to observe and assist the brew master at Antietam Brewery during one of his brews. Prizes will also be awarded for first, second and third place in each class.

Entries are being accepted on a first- come basis. Only 30 entries will be accepted for the entire competition featuring four entry classes- Irish Red Ale, Pale Ale/ Lager, Saison/ Belgian and Dark Ale/ Stout/ Porter

Also featured will be an amateur beer label competition. Unlimited entries will be accepted and the winner will be determined by popular vote by the event attendees. Aspiring artists and graphic designers may want to take advantage of this opportunity to have their work seen by  professional brewers, beer distributors and consumers.

The fee to enter a brew is $10 and the label entry fee is $5. A discount admission ticket for the Quad State Beer Fest - "Shamrocked" -  is available with each purchase.  Entry forms and admission tickets are available at Blue Mountain Wine Crafters, 8 E.
