Concert association marks 80 years
WAYNESBORO - Waynesboro Community Concert Association, formed in 1936, is among a small group of concert associations throughout the country that have existed for 80 years.
WCCA is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization committed to enriching the cultural life of the Waynesboro area by presenting nationally acclaimed artists at reasonable, family friendly prices.
For its anniversary year, WCCA joins Hagerstown Community Concert Association to jointly sponsor two concerts, one of which will be held at the Maryland Theatre.
A subscription still costs $55 -- or $50 for subscriptions purchased before April 30. New subscribers may also attend this season’s final concert as a bonus – pianist Thomas Pandolfi at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. The subscription price includes WCCA’s five concerts plus reciprocal concerts with Gettysburg and Hagerstown and Westminster, Maryland.
Student tickets are no longer offered. Instead, students from kindergarten through high school may attend free. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade should be accompanied by an adult.
There are a number of donation categories available for those who would like to help defray the cost of concerts, programs, mailing, etc. One category is “Club for the 80’s” to celebrate the eighth decade of bringing live, professional music and entertainment to the area at a reasonable cost.
WCCA offers the following concerts for the 2016-2017 season:
- David Burnham’s Broadway – 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
- Ronnie Kole Trio – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.
