Good, clean fun is on the menu at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center.

The Exchange Club of Hanover will be hosting its 17th annual “An Evening of Comedy & Magic,” a kid-friendly showcase, on April 15 at 7 p.m.

The money raised will benefit efforts to prevent child abuse, the exchange club’s national project.

George Hubbard, a member of the exchange club and Mid-Atlantic district president, described the event as “fun, good family entertainment.”

Hubbard said he has grandchildren from Maryland that come up to see the show every year.

“Kids love it,” he said. “It’s funny.”

The acts for this year’s event include Mutts Gone Nuts, a dog show featuring rescued pets; the Reed Sisters, a magic act; and Hilby, a German juggler. A performance by the Emory H. Markle Intermediate School will begin at 6:30 p.m. Kohl and Company will be putting on their performance for the event for the fifth time.

Dick Kohlhafer, a member of the group, described it as a comedy-magic act with some Vaudeville flavor and audience participation.

“It’s a wonderful type of show for young and old alike,” said Kohlhafer.

Along with the entertainment, Kohlhafer noted the funds are going to a worthwhile cause.

Hubbard emphasized the importance of supporting efforts to prevent child abuse.

“York County needs as much help as it can get,” he said. “It’s not an easy task.”

However, Kohlhafer said the emphasis is mostly on the laughter.

“I don’t think anyone has ever gone away unhappy with these shows,” he said. “It’s just like being a kid all over again.”
