Capitol Theatre gets the blues - and brews, and BBQ


CHAMBERSBURG - For the 21+ crowd, the back lot at the Capitol Theatre is the place to be, rain or shine, from 1-7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, for the 6th annual Blues, Brews & Barbecue featuring live bands, craft specialty and domestic beer, wine and barbecue.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofit Capitol Theatre Center Foundation based at Capitol Theatre Center, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg.

Blues

Musical groups on tap include:

1-2:30 p.m. Grammy nominated blues/roots artist, singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Randy McAllister and the Scrappiest Band in the Motherland, from East Texas. Learn more at www.randymcallister.com/

Brews

Beers and breweries represented will include Dogfish Head, Troegs, Neshaminy Creek, Ithaca Brewing, Roy Pitz, Deschutes, Leinenkugel, New Belgium and Miller Lite provided by ACE Distributing, plus Bud Light, Yuengling and more. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

Barbecue

The menu will feature award winning barbuecue by Ribbins BBQ of Chambersburg and the popular Hempen Hill BBQ of Hagerstown, Maryland. Enjoy North Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches, thin sliced pit beef sandwiches, smoked jumbo chicken wings, slow smoked baby back ribs, smoked mac & cheese, creamy coleslaw and more.

Tickets and rules

Everyone must show ID to consume alcohol. All ages must pay an admission fee.

Pets are not allowed, with the exception of service pets. No coolers/ containers or outside food or beverages will be permitted. Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.

Admission is $10 for entry, entertainment, and a souvenir glass (while supplies last), or $7 for a designated driver which includes entry and entertainment. Food and beverages will be sold separately. Attendees will also be able to enjoy small games of chance.

Blues, Brews and Barbecue tickets are available in advance or at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.thecapitoltheatre.org/specialevents.html or by calling the Capitol Theatre Box Office at 717-263-0202. The box office is inside the main entrance to Capitol Theatre at 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg, and is open 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.

The rain or shine event takes place outside in the Capitol Theatre Center back lot, accessed through the main front entrance of Capitol Theatre Center, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg.
