Mercersburg celebrates small town, main street America
MERCERSBURG - The Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates small town, main street America with its annual Mercersburg Springfest from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in downtown Mercersburg.
Nestled in the foothills of the Tuscarora Mountains; Mercersburg is a quaint town with a historic past. Springfest is a one-day festival attracting close to 100 vendors and more than 4,000 visitors each year. There will be a wide variety of crafters, artisans, jewelers, food vendors, civic groups and local businesses that participate. Downtown merchants and restaurants are also in full swing during the festivities.
"Springfest is a phenomenal day for downtown Mercersburg. It's a celebration of our rural, main street community. Thousands of people visit our town during the festival, which allows us to showcase the uniqueness of our region," said Chris Ardinger, TACC executive director, in a press release announcing the event.
"For Tuscarora residents, it's a nice day to catch-up with old friends, family, and neighbors and enjoy some good food and crafts. Most importantly, it gives our downtown merchants and restaurants the ability to highlight the value of small business in rural America," Ardinger said.
