It's about that time of year.
No, not Restaurant Week. It's Christmas in July! Discounted drinks, free appetizers, live carolers and maybe even some mistletoe will make an appearance at the Happy Hour on July 1, presented by FlipSidePA, Downtown Inc., York County Economic Alliance and the Yorktowne Hotel.
The party kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Offcenter Grill at the Yorktowne Hotel, 48 E. Market St., York.
To really get you ladies and gents into the holiday spirit, we'll have an Ugly Christmas Tie Contest, so pull out your December best and look for those hideous wreath, reindeer and Christmas lights ties (we know you've got them). The judges, the ever dapper Henry Nixon and Glenn J. Smith, will start sizing up the looks at 6 p.m., so be there or be an oddly shaped circle. The winner will receive a one night romance package from the Yorktowne Hotel.
And yes, ugly Christmas sweaters — or, in this case, tank tops — will also be encouraged.
We'll also have Christmas carols courtesy of YDR business reporter Brett Sholtis, which isn't something you'll want to miss.
Now, about those cocktails.
The Offcenter Grill's Amanda Rohrbaugh previews the bar's Mistletoe Mojito. Try one at FlipSidePA's "Christmas in July" happy hour, thrown in conjunction with Downtown Inc. and York County Economic Alliance from 5-7 July 1 at the Yorktowne Hotel! Skye Leppo, FlipSidePA
The OffCenter team is preparing two special drinks, the Jack Frost (a delicious mix of Bacardi Rum, Malibu Rum, Blue Curacao and pineapple juice garnished with from shredded coconut — yum!) and the Mistletoe Mojito, which is Wyndridge cranberry cider, Bacardi Rum, mint and a couple o'cranberries for an extra punch.
The bar team will also offer 8 oz. draughts of Mad Elf for $2 while supplies last, as well as typical hour specials (half-priced domestic light bottles, half-priced domestic draughts and half-priced house wines).
We'll also have a photo booth to record the shenanigans.
