Spend 'An Evening With Mark Twain'

Have you ever wanted to listen to Mark Twain regale an audience with stories from his childhood on the Mississippi? Here's your chance.

Renowned Twain re-enactor Charles Kiernan will perform at the Nicarry Meeting House Auditorium at the Cross Keys Village Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.

Kiernan will talk to guests about the history of Mark Twain's life as well as what inspired some of his most popular works, said Mikele Stillman of the Hanover Area Historical Society.

The intent of the show is to "give the audience a bit of Twain's biography, his humor and his viewpoint," according the National Storytelling Network

Kiernan will also talk about Twain's "prominence worldwide," Stillman said.

"Mark Twain became the American voice to Europeans. He wrote about America unlike other artists."

Kiernan's visit is a part of the Martin/Leese programs sponsored by the Hanover Area Historical Society

The historical society decided on Kiernan because of his stellar reputation in the area, Stillman said. Kiernan is a part of the National Storytelling Network, and he performs at different venues as Twain.

"He not only looks the part, he sounds the part," Stillman said. "People say he's one of the best."
