Creative York names new executive director

Creative York has named Annelise Montone its new executive director.

Montone will take over the position, previously held by Kevin Lenkner, according to a news release.  Lenkner is now the executive director at Mimbres Region Arts Council in Silver City, N.M.

A graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Montone has served as executive director of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra as well as deputy director and executive director of the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House in Baltimore, according to the release. She has also served as creative director of Open Space Arts in Reisterstown, Md. and patron services director at Olney Theater Centre in Olney, Md.

Having served on the board of several local nonprofit organizations, Montone has experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, marketing and arts programming.

“I look forward to continuing the extensive work done by Mr. Lenkner and his team,” Montone said in a news release. “I have spent my career as a nonprofit professional because I believe that this sector, particularly the arts, is crucial to the cultural health of our communities.”
