FlipSidePA Happy Hour celebrates Christmas in July

It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Yorktowne Hotel in downtown York Friday night.

More than 150 people decked out in Santa hats, holiday socks, festive t-shirts and the ugliest Christmas ties they could find came downtown for FlipSidePA’s Christmas in July Happy Hour.

The event, hosted with Downtown Inc. and the York County Economic Alliance, was part of downtown York’s Christmas In July-themed First Friday festivities.

From 5 to 7 p.m., attendees munched on free appetizers, drank specialty Christmas cocktails and listened to a surprise performance from the First Capital Brass quintet who played Christmas carols in the dining room of the Yorktowne’s Offcenter Grill.

At 6 p.m., Judges Henry Nixon and Glenn J. Smith named Stephen Holt of Manchester Township the winner of the Ugly Christmas Tie Contest. He won a one-night romance package at the Yorktowne Hotel for his homemade light-up holiday tie.

This year’s signature cocktails included the Jack Frost – a delicious mix of Bacardi Rum, Malibu Rum, Blue Curacao and pineapple juice garnished with shredded coconut – and the Mistletoe Mojito, made with Wyndridge cranberry cider, Bacardi Rum, mint and cranberries.

The Offcenter Grill bar team also offered 8 oz. draughts of Mad Elf as well as their typical happy hour specials.

Photographer Harrison Jones documented all the fun from the evening at a photo booth. Find the pictures on FlipSidePA.com.
