Agave IPA first craft brew in Blackboard Series

Victory Brewing Company is creating a craft riff on restaurant specials with a Blackboard Series of microbrews to launch Jan. 1.

Inspired by restaurants’ daily specials and their use of fresh ingredients, the brewer will create four distinctive beers in 2016. The first offering will be Agave IPA with Grapefruit, brewed with four variations of American hops along with agave and grapefruit for a winter fruit beer with a citrus bite. The ale will be available through March. Suggested retail is $9.99 for four 12-ounce bottles.

The Downingtown, Pa.-based craft brewer developed the idea from the popularity of daily specials at their three brewpubs, in Downington, Kennett Square and Parkesburg.

“Much like our talented chefs make menu changes, we followed suit to bring ‘specials’ to our fans from the blackboard to the bottle or tap,” said Victory President and Brewmaster Bill Covaleski in a release.

Victory will create a new Blackboard Series selection every three months. Look for Dry-Hopped Brett Pils on draft from April to June; a Berliner Weisse with Elderflower, to be sold in 12-ounce bottles; and Oatmeal Porter with Hazelnut on draft later in the year.
