Enjoy Joy El camp one day for free


Joy El's annual open house festival, The Joy El Jubilee, takes place April 25 this year.

This Saturday, hundreds of people will descend on the site of Joy El Camps & Retreats near the village of Williamson west of Greencastle to enjoy a wide array of activities and events.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy the camp's activities at no cost. There is no admittance fee and parking is free.

Activities include hayrides, a zip line, go-karts, high ropes activities, archery, canoeing, mini-golf and s'mores around the campfire.

The camp also will offer plenty of food for families who attend. Chicken barbecue meals, prepared by BBQ by Ralph, Mercersburg, will be sold in the dining hall from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and hot dogs and homemade soup will be sold at the snack shop.

Chicken barbecue costs are $8 for a half-chicken dinner and $6 for quarter-chicken dinners.

One child will win the grand prize of a free week of summer camp. Attendees may also enter drawings for door prizes to will be given away all day.
