Salvation Army auxiliary's fabric fair April 29 through May 2

Salvation Army's Woman's Auxiliary's has been hosting highly successful fabric and crafts sales for more than 20 years, with proceeds benefiting the programs and services of Chambersburg's Salvation Army.

This year's sale will be April 29 through May 2 at North Pointe Business Park, 2625 Philadelphia Ave.

It opens each day at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., except the final day, which ends at noon.

Items to be available for sale are sewing machines, yard goods, thread, crafts, buttons, lace, curtains and knitting supplies, latch hook items, rug yarn, supplies, ribbon, dolls and supplies, draperies and accessories, antiques, patterns, wool and cotton material by the bag, yarn, needlework and quilting supplies and many more sewing and crafting items.

Throughout the year, auxiliary members put in hundreds of hours of work gathering, sorting and pricing their fabric and craft items. The fabric fair's initial purpose was to raise money to sponsor children at summer camp but the events have since provided many thousands of dollars for everything from new equipment for the soup kitchen, filling in funding gaps for Christmas food distribution, building a new storage shed and buying toys, shoes and clothing for underprivileged children.
