Collectors' Choice: Take home a work of art from May 19 fundraiser


Council for the Arts of Chambersburg will present Collector's Choice May 19 at Northgate, 1500 Northfield Drive, beginning at 6 p.m. Sixty-five area artists have donated works of art for the Council fundraiser. Each ticket holder will take home a piece of donated artwork.

Included are works from prominent local artists such as Brad Clever, Jeff Barnhart, Kent Roberts and Charles Brown. Glass works are by Council Executive Director Michael Fisher and Chambersburg native Scott Krenitsky. Potters from the Nicodemus Center for Ceramic Studies also have added pieces to the display and photographers represented include Erin Martzluf, Richard Amt and Denise Dockey.

Tickets are $100 and cover admission for two and an array of refreshments. The pair may also choose one work of art.

The Collector's Choice exhibit is on view through May 19. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily in Northgate.

Chambersburg Recreation Department will host open paint nights, May 27, June 24, July 29 and Aug. 26 in Eugene C. Clarke Jr. Community Center, 235 S. Third St. Children ages 12 and younger may attend with an adult.

Sessions will be from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be no formal instruction but the paint-night supervisor will guide and make suggestions. Tables and chairs are provided. Take an easel if you need one. Snacks will be provided but attendees may take food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Cost is $19 a person ($15 for borough residents) and includes a 16-by-20 canvas and painting supplies. Cost is $10 ($7 residents) for those who choose to take their own supplies.
