American doll house tours June 19-21 at Hager House, Hagerstown, Md.
HAGERSTOWN, MD. >> Children are invited to take along their dolls or toys when they visit Jonathan Hager House Museum, 110 Key Street, during the American Doll House Tours June 19 through 21.
With the newest addition to its collection, the City of Hagerstown's Parks & Recreation Division is telling the story of what it was like for children in the past growing up in homes such as The Hager House.
The fully furnished, hand-crafted model doll house replica of the Jonathan Hager House was made by a Hagerstown resident. With the help of Washington County Historical Society, an assortment of antique toys on temporary loan also will be exhibited throughout the house. The toys are for display only.
Tour times last about 1 ½ to 2 hours. At the end of each tour, guests and their dolls will be treated to a picnic-like setting to enjoy snacks and a chance to write with old-fashioned writing utensils including a fountain pen, quill, sealing wax and other fanciful tools.
Advanced reservations are recommended, with discount cost of $3 for senior citizens and children ages 1-12, and $4 for guests ages 13 and older. Drop-in rates are a dollar more.
Tour times are 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday, noon and 2 p.m. all three days.
