Splash, climb, bounce and dance June 26 at splash party carnival in Shippensburg park


SHIPPENSBURG >> Families have been having fun for 10 years now at the annual Family Fun Night Carnival and Splash Party in Shippensburg's Veterans Memorial Park, along Park Place.

This year's park and pool party will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 26 (rain date, June 27).

The event is hosted by Drew Michael Taylor Foundation and Phantom Shadow Entertainment as a fundraiser for the nonprofit grief response organization.

The cost is a $10 a person. Wristbands will be available for guests of all ages and allows them to bounce, slide, play, dance, and swim all evening long.

There are expected to be about eight to 10 attractions and games, along with a DJ. The park pool will be open for swimming, cost included with wristbands.

In addition, West End Fire and Rescue will have a fire truck on site for the youngsters to check out.

Cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn will be sold and the pool's concession stand will also be open.

Phantom Shadow inflatable attractions, slides and climbing attractions will be open for youngsters, and teens and adults can enjoy the Zero Shock Gravity Jump and a mechanical bull. A Phantom Shadow DJ will play a mix of music all evening.

DMTF was created by Randy and Marcie Taylor of Shippensburg to honor their 3-year-old son, Drew, who was killed in 2006 in an auto accident in the Outer Banks. The foundation's mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of grieving individuals and families by providing the Drew's Hope grief and loss support program and other grief education and grief support groups.
