Middle Spring Watershed Association to host Stream Awareness Day

SHIPPENSBURG >> The first Saturday in September is Stream Awareness Day at Middle Spring Watershed Association's stream festival.

This year's event will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 5 and continue through the rubber duck derby event, which begins at noon.

There will be aquarium exhibits featuring species from the stream, art activities, a pinball-type game, bird box building, nature art and other activities. There will be a fee to cover the cost of the wood for the bird box building. Other activities are free.

Also available will be information from MSWA and related organizations.

The event will take place on the green between the junction of three roads — Middle Spring, Maclays Mills and Stonewall roads, across the street from 200 Middle Spring Road.

Food will be available for purchase.

The rubber duck derby is an annual MSWA fundraiser. Tickets are $4 a duck and will be available the morning of the event. All proceeds benefit MSWA's community service, environmental and educational programs.
