Whodunit? Franklin County Historical Society to host murder mystery event


CHAMBERSBURG >> Gangsters, flappers, suffragettes and other characters are part of the mystery this weekend at the Old Jail, when the Franklin County Historical Society hosts "Murder at the Crossed Keys Hotel."

The Old Jail, 175 E. King St., will be open for the event from 6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17. Groups will be led through the jail for an approximately 45-minute tour, with popcorn and hot chocolate waiting at the end.

Playing the "victim" is the late Franklin County Commissioner Frank Hafer, an actual county commissioner whose actual death was about a decade after the time period depicted, and under much less mysterious circumstances.

His photograph, draped in black bunting, hangs over a coffin at the Old Jail.

Tickets are $8, available in advance at the Old Jail, or at the door. or you may pay at the door.
