Don't know what to do this weekend? Check out our top picks for events happening in or around the Franklin County area.

Friday, Aug. 5

Support the Arts in Schools

Come out to the Downtown Business Council and Council for the Arts of Chambersburg's August First Friday First Friday celebration! The event will include a window walk on Main, featuring murals from the 2015 Downtown Mural Project and displays of artwork by local elementary school students, a cornhole tournament and a photo booth. Attendees will also be able to hear local music, dance with the Gad-Abouts Square Dance Club or donate school supplies to United Way's "Stuff the Bus" campaign. The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Chambersburg.

Art of Motion

Chambersburg isn't the only one celebrating the arts this weekend. Head over to Waynesboro and check out the reception for the opening of a new show, "Art in Motion," which will include light refreshments, door prizes and live music by Kathleen and Patric Schlee. Once you're done, check out Wine Down Friday, which will have wine, light refreshments and music from pianist Woody Payne. Events will be held from 5-8 p.m. on West Main Street. For more information on the reception, visit 42westarts.com or call 717-762-8394. For more information on Wine Down Friday, call 717-655-2915.

39th Old Home Week

It only comes once every three years, and this year it's back! Greencastle's Old Home Week kicks off this Saturday with the official opening of the 39th Triennial on the Square, featuring special music performed by Dave Reeder and Harrison Scott. Sunday is also fun-filled with the "unofficial" opening on the Square from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., which includes strung with lights to brighten the night sky and sing-a-long to ring in the event. There will be events happening all week, so make sure to visit flipsidepa.com for more information.
