Gettysburg Brass Band Festival set for June

The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival takes the stage June 11 through 14 at the Lutheran Theological Seminary.

Previously a part of the annual Gettysburg Fest, the Gettysburg Brass Band Festival is now an independent four-day event with a new main stage as well as satellite locations to feature music at a variety of venues, bringing a wider array of performances than in previous years.

The event will kick off June 11 with The Adams County Community Band and will continue all weekend with concluding performances of brass ensembles at church services on June 14. The main outdoor stage will be located at the seminary with other performances taking place at sites throughout Gettysburg.

The festival will also feature the Tuba Open Golf Brass Benefit, which helps support the festival, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on June 12, at the Carroll Valley Golf Course. The golf tournament will include door prizes as well as prizes awarded to the golfer closest to the pin, with the longest drive and more.

On June 13 a Community Brass Picnic will be held at 5 p.m. and include a variety of food, in addition to festival entertainment.

The Brass Band Festival is fully funded by donations and is supported in part by the Adams County Arts Council's STAR Grant Program.
