Four things to do this weekend in Hanover-Adams County
Looking for a night (or day) out on the town, but don't want to wander far from home? Here are some events happening near Hanover and Adams County this weekend.
Take a walking tour in Hanover
The congregation of Emmanuel UCC, 124 Broadway in Hanover, invites the public to participate in the continuing celebration of their 250th anniversary.
Civil War walking tours will start at 9:15, 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. Saturday on Frederick Street at the Pennsylvania historical marker.
The walks will end at Emmanuel, where 30 quilts will be on display and tours of the church will be offered.
The event is free and open to the public. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 717-632-8281.
Take time to smell the flowers in Gettysburg
Adams County Arts Council board member Charlie Gomer and his wife, Anne, are opening their gardens for Brunch at Gettysburg Daylilies.
This fundraiser for the arts council will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 45 Sachs Road.
Gomers' passion is daylilies. Participants will see a display of 1,000 cultivars at their home.
A Master Gardener and member of the American Hemerocallis Society, Gomer will offer gardens tours and a chance to meet the peacocks.
The menu includes eggs, spiral ham, fresh fruit, pastries, mimosas and coffee.
Reservations are $30 per person, requested by June 24, and available online at adamsarts.org, aa@adamsarts.org or by calling the Arts Council at 717-334-5006.
Daylilies will be for sale, with part of the proceeds benefitting the arts council's Arts Education Center. Rain date for the event will be June 28.
Take the kids to an Evening in the Park
The East Berlin Parks & Recreation Commission will host its annual Evening in the Park from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on June 28 at the East Berlin Community Park, at the west end of North Avenue, one block north of West King Street.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Tom Shultz.
There will be an inflatable for the kids to enjoy, the entertaining and educational "Bob's Critters", a silent auction, bake sale, food and refreshments.
The event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds benefit the East Berlin Community Park.

See a play in Gettysburg
"Shenandoah - The Civil War Musical," continues this weekend at Totem Pole Playhouse.
The country music-scored story features a Quaker who refuses to participate in the Civil War until one of his sons is abducted and the other is killed.
The tale, based off the 1965 Jimmy Stewart film, is suitable for the whole family.
