Battle re-enactments, fireworks in Gettysburg

At 8:30 p.m. July 4, the Patriotic Pops Concert will begin at the Gettysburg College Memorial Field, located off of Constitution Avenue. The fireworks displays will follow at 9:30 p.m. and can be viewed from Memorial Field, the Gettysburg National Military Park and surrounding area.

Food and refreshments – including craft beer and Adams County wine – will be on sale throughout the concert and fireworks.

Next month, the site of the movie "Gettysburg" will serve as the backdrop for this year's 152nd Gettysburg Anniversary Re-enactment Aug. 7-9.

The re-enactors will conduct five battle re-enactments over those three days including live mortar demonstrations. There will be field demonstrations, a living history village, Civil War music, period religious services and several Civil War weddings. Visitors are also invited to walk through the military camps and interact with the re-enactors.

General admission and grandstand seating are available. Grandstand seating on Saturday and Sunday typically sells out in advance, so order early at www.gettysburgreenactment.com.
