4 things to do in Hanover-Adams County this weekend


Whether you like carnivals, motorcycles or anything in between, there's plenty to do around Hanover and Adams County this weekend.

Rumble into Bike Week

Bike Week brings games, concerts and wet T-shirt contests to Gettysburg on an annual basis.

This year's event, set to kick off July 9 and run through July 12, brings back fan favorites and sprinkles in a few new attractions as well.

The festivities will take place at the Allstar Complex, 2638 Emmitsburg Road, Gettysburg.

Check out the New Oxford carnival

United Hook and Ladder's annual carnival kicked off earlier this week and will conclude Saturday at 21 North Bolton St., New Oxford.

Can't make it this year? Check out these other carnivals taking place throughout the Hanover-Adams County region.

Members of the Susquehanna Valley Region Model A Restorers Club will also be on-hand to showcase their vehicles during the event.

The focal point of the display will be a 1929 Model A Ford Fire Truck (originally commissioned by neighboring Abbottstown) that was recently restored by select members of the fire company, members of The Greater Baltimore Model A Club and the Susquehanna Valley Region Model A Restorers Club.

Support Hanover businesses at Rock Paper Scissors

Rock Paper Scissors celebrated the one-year anniversary of its opening this year, and they're ready to celebrate.

The salon, as well as several other area businesses, is hosting a a day of food and music for the public to enjoy.

Win some art

The Drawing Room Gallery, a cooperative art gallery at 333 Baltimore St. in Gettysburg, has begun a monthly art give-away.

Visitors to the Gallery can enter at no cost and have a chance to win an original work of art created by one of the gallery artists. The winning ticket will be drawn on the last business day of the month: the winner need not be present to win, and the gallery will ship to any location within the Continental U.S.

An original colored pencil painting by Amy Lindenberger will be offered in July, with the winner to be chosen July 31.

Gallery hours for July are Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 1-8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Special hours July 9-12, Thursday-Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
