York Cultural Alliance awards 24 PPA grants for arts-related projects


The Cultural Alliance of York County has awarded 24 Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts project stream grants for arts-related projects in York, Adams, Franklin and Fulton counties.

Arts organizations, individual artists and community groups could apply for up to $2,500 to support exhibitions, performances and other art projects for the public, according to a news release.

The following organizations have received project stream grants for 2015-16 projects.

York County

The Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Delta Theta received funding to present "The Clothesline Muse," a multi-discipline theater project at York College.

Artist Randy Flaum received funding for his York Storykids "My Vision, My Community" project that teaches children storytelling through photography.

Stewartstown Senior Center received funding to produce an art class for the public at the Stewartstown Senior Center.

The Maker's Dozen artist collective received funding to host its second open house tour of 12 artist studios in York.

Healthy World Café received funding for its "Art for All" series of music and visual art events.

The Dillsburg Arts Council received funding to host a public series of cultural programs.

The York County Heritage Trust received funding to support its "Tavern Tastings" events, featuring live music and art displays during York's First Fridays.

The White Rose Chorus received funding to produce its annual show at West York Area High School.

The Salvation Army received funding to bring in visual arts instructors to do "Meeting Michelangelo" hands-on arts education with its after-school participants.

The Unforgettable Big Band received funding to host concerts celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra.

The Parliament Arts Organization received funds to bring Manhattan-based installation artist Christina Watka into the Royal Square neighborhood of York City for a three-month public residency.

The YWCA of York received funding to create a "Welcome To Olde Towne East" mural that will be a public wayfinder for visitors to the Olde Towne East neighborhood of York City.

Trinity United Church of Christ in Hallam received funds to provide free community cultural concerts of "Simple Gifts."

Adams County

Gettysburg Children's Choir received funds to produce seven public performances for the Gettysburg Children's Choir and High School ensemble.

The Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice received a grant to support the 24th annual Adams County Heritage Festival.

River Crossing Playback Theatre received funds to perform "We Belong" as part of the Adams County annual diversity conference in spring of 2016.

Franklin County

Franklin County Library System received funds to hold three kick-off concerts for Franklin County Library System and Chamber District Libraries Summer Reading Program.

Nicodemus Center for Ceramic Studies received funds to host the Cumberland Valley Pottery Festival.

Chambersburg Community Theatre received funds to produce its 62nd at the Capitol Theatre.

Chambersburg Ballet Theatre Company received funds for a program of dances and interactive games based on "The Nutcracker" at the Capitol Theatre.

The Church of the Apostles received funds to provide free community cultural concerts of "Simple Gifts" at their facility.

Summertrios received funding for faculty Ensemble Concerts at Wilson College.

Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro received funds for Destination ARTS! Public Performing Arts events to take place in downtown Waynesboro.

Fulton County

McConnellsburg High School received funds to host a musical theatre experience for students in seventh to 12th grade.

McConnellsburg Elementary School received funds to host a musical theatre experience for its elementary school students.
