Welcome to Labor Day weekend! The perfect time to frolic in the sun while listening to birds chip and eating some of your favorite foods. We've got you covered if you are looking to head out and about the Hanover area.

Show off your car

Take in the cars at the 2016 Car Show Series from 5-8 p.m., Friday at the Markets at Hanover at 1649 Broadway. People's choice voting ends at 7 p.m., and trophy presentations are at 7:30. Admission is $5 per car, and all proceeds benefit local veteran's charities.

Hanover Chili Cook Off

Calling all chili lovers! The 21st annual Hanover Chili Cook Off will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Good Field in Hanover. Sample a wide variety of chili and take in some music and magic, all while helping to raising funds for local charities.

Music on Parrot Island

Relax, have some food and drinks, and listen to some classic rock and pop from Gettysburg musician John Mayer on the Parrot Island deck at Olivia's Authentic Mediterranean Cuisine at 3015 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg. The event is from 6-10 p.m. Friday.

Listen to a camp fire story

Mrs. Myra will make stories come to life around the fire pit with Places Thru Time from 7-8 p.m., Saturday at the Baladerry Inn, 40 Hospital Road, Gettysburg. Cost of admission is $20 per person. Guests are welcome to bring a chair or sit on logs.

Join the after hours party

After normal business hours wind down, the after hours party heats up with live music every Friday and Saturday at Hauser Estate Winery, 410 Cashtown Rd, Biglerville. Admission is free. Dinner is served for a fee, and wine and hard cider is available for purchase.
