5 things to do in the Hanover area this weekend


Music, theater, cars and roller derby. What do they have in common? They are all part of this weekend's activities in the Hanover area.

Check out five fun events to fill your time.

Hanover Heart Walk

Join others for some physical activity and fundraising at the 2016 Hanover Heart Walk at 11:30 a.m., Sunday at Hanover Hospital. The event supports the American Heart Association's fundraising efforts aimed at "saving lives from the country's No. 1 and 5 killers — heart disease and stroke," according to www.heart.org.

Take in music at Roosterpalooza 

Looking to enjoy non-stop music from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday? Then head out to Roosterpalooza Music Festival 7 at Elicker's Grove Park in Spring Grove. The event offers a full day of music, including KISS tribute band Strutter, Disorderly, Time Bomb and others. Craft and food vendors will be on site as well as tattoo artists. Kids can have fun with a playground and face painting.

Pets are welcome and children under 17 are free while accompanied by an adult. The event is BYOB.

Aladdin in Hanover

Pennsylvania Theatrical Arts will present Disney’s "Aladdin Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center. Adult tickets are $19, and children are $14.

Cars and BBQ

Cars and trucks will be on display at the Hanover Moose Legion's annual Car and Truck show from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at 19 Barnhart Drive. In addition to the cars, 3 Hogs BBQ will cater the event. Divisions will be muscle car, street rod, antiques, trucks, foreign, classics, new muscle, and people’s choice.

Cheer on the Rotten Cherries 

The Black Rose Rollers Rotten Cherries will battle the Free State Rockvillians from Rockville, Md., from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Magic Elm Skateland. Seating is first come, first served, so make sure to arrive early.
