Out and About: Jon Gosselin brings DJ act to Lebanon
A TV dad turned DJ is coming to Lebanon, an opening act for Jewel’s upcoming performance at Forum Theatre, plus lots of unforgettable entertainment is coming to Hershey this summer and this fall. More on those events and what’s happening this week around the area.
A well-known TV dad is coming to Lebanon. Jon Gosselin, formerly of TLC’s “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” will be making a celebrity DJ appearance along with producer D.J. Tevarelli at Frogs Hollow Tavern, Saturday, April 16 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The tavern is located on Route 72.
If you’re going to see four-time Grammy Award Winner, Jewel, hit the stage at Forum Theatre in Harrisburg April 9, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth of entertainment. In addition to Jewel’s performance, the Americana Band JD and The Straight Shot will open for the show. Like Jewel, the band is also on tour in support of their new, all-acoustic album, "Ballyhoo!"The band just recently performed across Europe, and is ready to take the stage in Hershey. The legendary Elton John is coming to Hershey. The show comes to Giant Center Friday, September 23 at 8 p.m., as part of a nine city concert tour that will feature iconic hits, classic album tracks and selections from his upcoming album "Wonderful Crazy Night." Tickets to see the number one music brand for kids in Hershey this summer go on sale Friday. The band, Kidz Bop, hits the stage at Giant Center Saturday, July 30 at 5 p.m. TheKidz Bop Kids, Ashlynn Chong, Sela Hack, Matt Martinez and Grant Knocke headline the show, featuring the biggest pop songs of the year, great choreography, and tons of surprises. Later this fall, a popular comedian will hit the stage at Hershey Theatre. Tickets for comedian Bill Maher are now on sale. SIP Wine in the Park is back for its second year. Presented by Joycat Events, producers of Lancaster’s popular Lancaster Craft Beerfest, SIP is a celebration of exceptional and unique wines from around the world. The event is Saturday, June 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Musser Park, located on the corner of East Chestnut and North Lime Streets in downtown Lancaster. Art in the Open Philadelphia 2016 is less than two months away. The free, live outdoor showcase of artists working in a range of media, runs from Friday, May 13 through Sunday May 15 along the Schuykill Banks Trail. In addition, Saturday May 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., “Art in the Open Family Day” will give members of general public the opportunity to draw, paint and sculpt their own creations outside the historic Fairmont Water Works.

Celebrate “Recovery Sunday” at the Covenant United Methodist Church. The event is Sunday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The church is located at 346 N. Ninth Street in Lebanon. Here’s an opportunity to work off that Easter candy. A free, low-impact exercise class will be held Monday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, located at 1000 S. Fifth Avenue in Lebanon. This is a weekly event and open to everyone.
Coming up at Governor Dick Environmental Center April 15 at 10 a.m. is Toddlers in Tow: Trail Games. Toddlers can play along the trail and learn more about nature. The event is for children ages two to five. The next day, April 16 at 3 p.m., it’s Seeing Nature, where you can develop your observation skills while learning more about the flora and fauna of the park. And finally, enjoy an afternoon of music at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Harmonia Music Club presents: Maennerchor Chorus of Lebanon Sunday, April 17 at 3 p.m. The chorus will sing "Sing A Joyful Noise," featuring the "Misa Criolla" Catholic mass in Spanish. The piece will have an authentic Latin accompaniment, written by famed Argentinean composer Ariel Ramirez. They'll also be pop, classical, spirituals and hymns pieces in German and English. Tickets are $8 and there will be refreshments after the concert.
