Evening of Comedy and Magic returns to Hanover on Friday

The Hanover Exchange Club plans to present its 16th annual Evening of Comedy and Magic this Friday with a lineup of four performers that have received national attention.

The event, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, features performances by two comedians as well as two magicians performing as a couple. All four performers have performed on nationally-televised programs, according to the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center website.

"It's good, clean, fun family entertainment," Hanover Exchange Club President Ed Temple said. "It's grown over the years and people actually look forward to it now. It's professional performers, they've been on 'America's Got Talent' and that sort of thing.'"

Comedian Adam Ace has been a contestant on "America's Got Talent," and "30 Seconds to Fame," and has headlined casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, as well as comedy clubs in Los Angeles.

The show's other comedian, Jonathan Burns, has appeared on the "Tonight Show" and the "CBS Late Show." In addition to his comedy routine, he can also contort his body in ways, leading him to dub his act as "flexible comedy."

"It's hard to explain what I do," he said. "If I tell people I'm a comedian, they think I do jokes about airplane food. If I tell them I'm a contortionist, they think I'm in the circus and way more questions come up. Neither fully describe my talents, so I came up with the phrase 'flexible comedy' to sum up what I do."

For the magic portion of the event, Scott and Jenny Alexander will perform together. They've performed on "America's Got Talent," have headlined Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas and have been seen on the SyFy Channel, Discovery Network and the "Oprah Winfrey Show," according to the Eichelberger website.

"I just look forward to it because the acts have always been good and we've got nothing but positive feedback from them," Temple said. "The producer, R.G. Smith, is just great to work with and he always finds great acts."
