Hanover shares boutique styles at fashion show
The Hanover Area Historical Society partnered with local businesses to flaunt downtown's boutique fashions.
Models showed off more than 20 outfits April 19 at the historical society's first fashion show at the Warehime-Myers Mansion on Baltimore Street in front of a crowd of more than 50 people.
Members of the historical society, which maintains the mansion, have long thought the home would make a great venue for such a show, said Colleen Reese, who helped organize the event. The home, built in 1911 by Clinton Myers of Hanover Shoe Company, includes a wide central staircase and sunny rooms furnished with historic decor.
Guests sat in two rooms on the mansion's first floor as the models circled past them. Fashionistas had the chance to feel and examine the outfits as speakers explained which stores made them.
Several other businesses set up informational stands throughout the mansion.
The purpose, organizer Mikele Stillman said, was to raise money for the historical society and local businesses while drawing attention to everything Hanover has to offer.
"This is a tribute to the downtown," she said.
