Sip & Stroll spotlights Hanover businesses, booze and art

Local brews, art and eats will be featured June 13 during Hanover's first Sip & Stroll.

The inaugural Main Street Hanover event will spotlight more than 10 downtown businesses, all of which plan to provide shoppers with tastes of wines, beers and food from local establishments, said Justine Kilkelly, manager of Main Street Hanover.

The Sound Room & Broadway Art, located at 106 Broadway, will have live entertainment from five-piece band Macy K and the Oven Fresh Hot Delicious.

"We have been a part of the Main Street efforts since January and we really want to support any of those effort," said Shannon Lanier, owner of The Sound Room & Broadway Art. "We're really excited for this one."

Local artists will have projects on display in some of the locations, Kilkelly said, adding that strollers must be at least 21 to participate.

Sip & Stroll will be preceded by the fifth-annual Chalk It Up, an event allows artists of all ages and skill levels to come downtown and create their own works of art using chalk on sidewalk slabs, Kilkelly said.

Chalk It Up will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Sip & Stroll started off as a way to fundraise for Chalk It Up, but it really has taken off on its own," Kilkelly said. "This should be a great day for Hanover-area residents."
