Meet new Strand-Capitol CEO Todd Fogdall

About Todd

Name: Todd Fogdall

Age: 48

Wife: Elaine Fogdall

Children: Bevan (daughter), 13; Cade (son), 11

Where he lives: Spring Garden Township

Education: Fogdall received a bachelor's degree in business management and French from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a master's degree in arts administration from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

As a teen, Todd Fogdall knew he had a passion for music and the performing arts.

He remembers the joy of playing the trombone in high school, singing in the choir in college and opening his eyes to classical music, opera, theater and even dance.

But what he didn't know was that those moments would one day prepare him for a role as president and CEO of the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York.

After leaving his previous position as director of development for Des Moines Performing Arts in Des Moines, Iowa, Fogdall began his duties in York the week of June 8 and decided to make family entertainment and educational programs his focus.

"Those experiences (playing trombone and singing in choir) were key in creating a foundation for me," he said. "I do what I do because I want to see the same kinds of opportunities I had be available for future generations of kids and audiences."

Fogdall said he plans to accomplish his goals by working with teachers to bring arts into the classroom, participating in downtown events like Second Saturday and offering family films, theater and music at an affordable cost for families.

But who is Todd Fogdall outside of the office?

In his spare time, Fogdall said he enjoys bike riding, home brewing, listening to live music and spending time with his family. His children, ages 11 and 13, are active in sports, music and their church, he said.

"I'm really anxious to continue to meet people in the community on a professional level as president of the Strand-Capitol, but also on a personal level as a member of the community with me and my family," he said.
