Utz plans Summer Bash in Hanover

Utz's Summer Bash is returning to Hanover for its second year.

The family-friendly festival will take place July 24 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Utz Factory Outlet Store, 861 Carlisle St., and the Utz Pavilion area, according to a news release.

The outside event will feature more than 30 local vendors, who will host free carnival-style games, face-painting and other entertainment. Guests can also purchase food, enroll in free prize giveaways and learn about local groups like the Adams County SPCA, Hanover's police and fire departments and Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Ministry.

Utz sponsored its first Summer Bash last July as a way to bring free summer entertainment to children of all economic backgrounds, Utz marketing service manager Steph Glatfelter said. The inaugural event attracted more than 1,000 kids and adults.

That number could double this year, Utz officials believe.

"The first annual Summer Bash was a resounding success," Utz Vice President of Human Resources George Neiderer said in the news release. "When you see the smiles on the hundreds of children who attended, it makes all the efforts to pull this day off worthwhile."
