Whether you're seeking music, food, or activities for the kids, August is packed with festivals sure to satisfy a craving for a bit more summertime fun.

Craley Days, Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8

You'll find music, cars, animals, adorable babies and more at the 40th annual Craley Days celebration, a fundraiser for the Craley Fire Company and Craley Playground Association.

This year's event includes a variety of bluegrass, country and gospel music artists Friday night and Saturday, capped off by Kody Norris and the Watauga Mountain Boys Saturday night. There's also a baby contest, with cutest eyes, cutest smile and best dressed categories, a ZooAmerica show, and a display from the Susquehanna Valley Regional Model "A" Restorers Club, featuring a 1928 fire truck. Food service will run 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The event is held at Water's Edge United Methodist Church, at Routes 124 and 624 in Craley.

Summer Fest, Saturday, Aug. 8

Here's a festival that's just plain peachy. The Flinchbaugh's Orchard and Farm Market event features a peach-eating contest and a peach bake-off. Indulge in a peach sundae or go pick your own right from the orchard.

If you're somehow not hungry, you can take a tractor-drawn hayride, try your luck at the corn maze or check out a host of kids' activities.

Red Lion Street Fair, Saturday, Aug. 8

In its 39th year, this fair, run by the Red Lion Area Business Association, has plenty of family-friendly activities including some free fun for kids.

The event features an inflatable obstacle course and bounce house, water wars, face painters and a balloon artist — all at no charge for the kiddos, according to Carol Leas, coordinator. You can also browse food and craft vendors and listen to a variety of bands that will be in center square all day.

This year's fair supports the Red Lion Area Community Services food pantry. Donate non-perishable food items to receive a reusable tote bag.

The event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 rain or shine in the streets off the Red Lion square. Learn more at www.rlaba.com .

Olde Tyme Days, Aug. 14, 15 and 16

Check out some heavy equipment at this event in Dover. In its 31st year, Olde Tyme Days, sponsored by the South Central Pennsylvania Historic Lifestyle and Power Society, showcases historic power equipment, this year featuring Ford tractors and John Deere hit and miss engines.

Other fun includes a petting zoo Friday, kids' train rides and hay rides, and truck and tractor pulls throughout the weekend. Tractor parades will be held at 4:15 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Friday, 7 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 or free for children 10 and younger. Earlybirds can get in free until 9 a.m. Saturday or 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival, Aug. 29 and 30

Highlights of this festival include 100 fine artists from around the country, with clay sculptor Kim Heindel-Toner as featured artist.

Check out the sidewalk chalk creations in YorkArts ChalkWalk or register by Aug. 22 to create your own. There are hands-on art activities, walking tours of the York murals, and demonstrations at the Colonial Court House Complex, according to the Yorkfest website. A free jazz concert will be offered Saturday night in the Capitol Theatre and a variety of musical acts will perform throughout the weekend. A mix of booths and food trucks will be available to satisfy cravings, including a new offering from Archer's Cafe, a food truck with gluten-free goodies.
