6 things to do in York this weekend

Need help planning your weekend? Here are six events worth checking out in York County.

Yorktoberfest

October means only one thing for York beer and wine lovers: the return of Yorktoberfest. The event is coming to the infield of the York Fairgrounds this weekend with samples of more than 60 craft beers and 120 Pennsylvania wines, as well as food, vendors and live music. If you go, make sure you check out this list of rare, non-traditional and new beers coming to Yorktoberfest. Details here.

Global Cardboard Challenge

A free day of creativity is coming to York Academy Regional Charter School Saturday. Participants will have the chance to build anything they want using provided cardboard, recycled materials and art supplies. The idea is to foster child creativity and celebrate National Arts & Humanities Month. Details here.

Eat at Cape Horn

Chef Robert Irvine and his team from the Food Network's "Restaurant: Impossible" gave Cape Horn Family Restaurant in Red Lion a makeover earlier this week. And now, the diner has a whole new look and menu. If you can't wait until the episode airs Dec. 17 to find out what's changed, pop on over to the restaurant this weekend for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Details here.

Bluegrass Harvest Festival

Pumpkin spice fans won't want to miss this event. Moon Dancer Winery will debut its new Pumpkin Spice Cider at its Blue Grass Harvest Festival Saturday. The event also includes music, barefoot grape stomping and wine tasting. Details here.

Seussical The Musical

Bring the family to see the Cat in the Hat, Horton the elephant and more of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters when "Seussical The Musical" opens at Dreamwrights Youth and Family Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Details here.
