56 Urban offers meal subscription service for York

Update: The deadline to sign up has been extended to Oct. 16, as reflected below.

Tired of ordering meal subscriptions from businesses based in New York?

Good news: There's now a local option. 56 Urban Provisions in York now offers 56 Quick Fix, a five week meal subscription service that provides three meals a week. Each meal equals four servings.

It's $59 per week. (Customers are charged weekly.) So, $295 for the five week subscription.

As of Tuesday, another option was added: a five week meal subscription with three meals a week that feed two people each (perfect for couples). The cost for that package is $29 per week.

Similar to Blue Apron and Plated, customers will receive recipes with step-by-step photo instructions on how to prepare each meal.

Each package will include pre-measured spice blends, fresh produce, and a small batch of gourmet products from the store.

Sign up by Oct. 16 for the first round of meals (Oct. 19 to Nov. 22). This isn't a delivery service. So, customers will pick up the groceries on Saturdays or Mondays at the shop, 56 S. Duke St. in the Royal Square District of downtown York.

Meals can be adjusted if customers have food allergies.
