Whether your idea of an entertaining afternoon is a wine tour or a trip to the circus, York has an event for you this weekend.
Here are six things to do in York County.
Wine Just Off The Vine
Several local wineries are releasing new holiday wines this weekend, and you can be the first to try them. At Wine Just Off The Vine, you'll taste samples from up to 17 Pennsylvania and Maryland wineries along the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail. Tickets also include a souvenir wine glass, refreshments, an educational experience at each location and 10 percent off beverage purchases. Get details here.
Makers Dozen Art Tour
Twelve downtown York artists and art groups are opening up their studios this weekend for a free, self-guided walking tour. This tour is your chance to meet and interact with local artists, ask questions about their process and learn about art. You might also find a few Christmas gifts along the way. Artwork on the tour ranges from paintings, knitting, crochet, beadwork, pottery and flowers. Get details here.
Sing along with the VeggieTales
Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber are coming to the Pullo Center in York on Saturday! And you can bet they'll be singing you favorite silly songs like "The Hairbrush Song" and "I Love My Lips." Before you go, take this quiz to see how well you know your VeggieTales song lyrics. Get details about the show here.
Greater York Antiques Show
In case you haven't heard, now is a good time to go antiquing, as the price of antiques is about half what it was 10 years ago, according to the owner of Center Square Antiques in New Oxford. And the Greater York Antiques Show is a great place to do it. There, you'll find a wide variety of antiques — from jewelry and grandfather clocks to folk art and coins — from 86 dealers Friday and Saturday. Get details here.
Grab lunch at The First Post
According to our food writer, there is one reason, above all, to visit The First Post: the food, which he says is "spectacular." You'll find items like grilled octopus and shrimp tempura on the menu, as well as a variety of meats, seafood and sandwiches. And starting this week, you can now try them all for lunch. National Circus and Acrobats of the People's Republic of China
Watch as these acrobats defy gravity and perform stunts at this Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center show Sunday. You can expect to see solo trapeze, aerial silk, diving through rings, feet juggling with umbrellas, unicycles, adagio of four, grand martial arts and more acrobatic acts. Get details here.
