Four York County bars with holiday specials


Local craft breweries are making the holidays merry with seasonal brews on tap and some special events.

Stop by your favorite brew pub to try a recent release, for tastings, growler fills and gift cards.

Black Cap Brewing, 5 W. High St., Red Lion: Saison de Gui, or Season of Mistletoe, is on tap for the holidays. This beer is brewed with ginger, orange peel, a little clove and honey with a 6.3 percent ABV. Also look for the General Gates Imperial Porter, an 18th century style porter at 7.8 percent ABV. Regular hours are 4-9 p.m. Thursday; 3-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Holiday hours are 4-9 p.m. Dec. 23; closed Dec. 24-25; 3-10 p.m. Dec. 26; 5-11 p.m. Dec. 31 with a live bluegrass band from 7:30-10:30 p.m.; closed Jan. 1; 3-10 p.m. Jan. 2. Liquid Hero Brewery, 50 E. North St., York, has two new brews: The First Capital Pale Ale is brewed with all-local malts; and this year’s Pub Santa was made with a Belgium yeast and 120 pounds of cherries, coming in with a 10.2 percent ABV. Stop in for happy hour, 4-6 p.m. weekdays; Bingo, 7-9 Tuesdays; or Randall Thursday, when the beers are infused with various special ingredients. Mexitaly Brick Oven Brewhouse, 2440 E. Market St., York, has a Weizenbock winter beer on tap for the holidays. Yukon Cornelius & The Bumbles will give a special concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 23. Wyndridge Farm, 885 S. Pleasant Ave., Dallastown, has several seasonal selections on tap: Maple Pumpkin Cider; Snow Owl Imperial Stout; a clover honey fermented Vanilla Spiced Mead; and Whiskey Barrel Maple Tipple. Wyndridge is holding a five-course prix fixe New Year’s Eve Dinner with music, 5-9 p.m. Dec. 31. Tickets are $68 each and include two crafty beverages. Reservations required.
