6 things to do in York this weekend

This weekend kicks off local food lovers' favorite week of the year – Restaurant Week York.

Be sure to celebrate with a meal at one of 30 participating restaurants. Looking for more ways to stay busy this weekend?

Here are six things to do in York County.

Kick off Restaurant Week at Happy Hour

Join the FlipSidePA team for discounted drinks, free appetizers, signature cocktails, live music, door prizes and a photo booth to kick off food lovers' favorite week of the year. Festivities are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Offcenter Grill at the Yorktowne Hotel. If you go, be sure to try the $5 beer and dessert pairing: a half-pint of Sam Adams Merry Maker served with a blueberry bruschetta.

Try a new RWYork restaurant

Following the Restaurant Week kickoff, stay downtown and take your pick from one of 30 participating restaurants for dinner. This annual celebration of York's best cuisine Feb. 20-27 will include prix-fixe menus, including breakfast specials for $5 and $10, lunch specials for $5, $10 and $15 and dinner specials for $20, $30 or $40. Make sure you save room for dessert!

Sample unique beers at Hibrewnation

Hibrewnation is the place to be for beer lovers on Saturday. The festival allows attendees to taste a wide variety of beers, some of which are rare and hard to find. The event is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. for general admission or noon to 5 p.m. for VIP on Saturday at Memorial Hall East at the York Expo Center.

See the Midtown Men

First stop Broadway, next stop Strand-Capitol Theatre. The Midtown Men, who performed in the original cast of "Jersey Boys" on Broadway, are bringing their '60s concert experience to York Saturday as part of their sixth national tour. You might recognize one of them as York's own J. Robert Spencer. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45, $50 and $59. Get details here.

Take your kids to the hockey rink

This Saturday, kids can Try Hockey For Free at ice rinks around the country as part of Hockey Weekend Across America. Local rinks, including York City Ice Arena, will host hour-long events for kids ages 4 to 9 who want to try youth hockey.
