Sample local beer at York charity golf tournament

Local breweries are headed to this year’s Drive It For Disabilities Golf Tournament.

For the first time, golfers can enjoy beer samples during the sixth annual tournament May 6 from Liquid Hero Brewery, Crystal Ball Brewing Company, Wyndridge Farm, Gift Horse Brewing Company and more, according to a news release. The beer samples will be sponsored by the CrocodileDog Marketing team to promote York’s upcoming Brew Kids on the Block event.

The four-person scramble tournament, held at Heritage Hills and Springwood golf courses, costs $500 per foursome and includes greens fees, golf cart rental, an awards banquet with dinner, on-course snacks and beverages and goodie bags.

Raffles and on-course games, including a potty-putting challenge and hole-in-one contest, will be played throughout the day.

“We try to have the most fun golf tournament event in York,” event volunteer and Gift Horse Brewing Company owner Jason Snyder said. “Anyone from novice golfers to experienced will have a good time.”

Registration is at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Hills and 11 a.m. at Springwood.

Proceeds benefit the Easter Seals of Central Pennsylvania, an organization that provides services, education, outreach and advocacy for people living with autism and other disabilities.

Last year, the event raised more than $38,000, and Snyder said the goal is to surpass that this year.
