Glen Rock woman to compete on 'Jeopardy!'

Terrie Trebilcock of Glen Rock will compete in the "Jeopardy!" Teachers Tournament starting May 2. During the two-week event, teachers will try for $100,000 and a spot in the next Tournament of Champions.

Trebilcock teaches history and economics at Hereford High School in Parkton, Md. Farmers Insurance, through its Thank America’s Teachers program, will present each of the contestants a $2,500 educational grant to fund classroom projects. Trebilcock plans to use her grant money for role playing and simulations in her classes, according to a press release.

“Presently, my AP European History class role plays the Reformation, the Enlightenment, the “-isms” of the 19th Century, and the Yalta Conference,” Trebilcock said. “These role plays are always among the best loved and most remembered days in class. I would like to explore ways to do similar work for AP Economics. I have some colleagues who have developed materials to do simulations such as a factory, a bank, an auction, etc., to illustrate, hands-on, how some of these economic ideas work. The grant would allow me to acquire these materials and to receive training in using them in the classroom.”

"Jeopardy!" airs at 7:30 p.m. on WHP. For more information on the Teachers Tournament, visit jeopardy.com.
