What you need to know about the York Flea

Unique finds at the York Flea, a street fair flea market.

Looking for something unique? The York Flea has you covered. More than 40 local merchants, artisans and collectors of vintage goods will take over the 100 block of North Beaver Street for this flea market and vendor fair.

Flea markets have a kind of crazy atmosphere, said volunteer Kristen Evans, so check out the vendors at YorkFlea.com or the event's Facebook page and make a plan of which stands you want to visit.

Shopping

With vintage records and clothes from RetroGetgo, handmade jewelry and macrame plant hangers from The Meraki Collective, and locally designed prints and shirts with Rupert Beard, this isn't your grandma's flea market.

"We try to really make it an affordable event," Evans said. "If you came to the event with $25 to $50, I think you could walk away with a good amount of really cool stuff."

Even if you show up with $10, Evans said you can still find some fun items. There's notebooks and bars of soap for just few dollars, and records for $2 to $5.

"Some really nice hand made jewelry could be $40 to $70," Evans said, "But I think there's a wide range."

Live music

Central Market will be open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there will be live acoustic music on North Beaver Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jefrey Woodall
  • 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Brandi Mummuert
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Devix
  • 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Chris Dempwolf and Ron Benway

Grab lunch

You could grab coffee or breakfast from the market then head over to Beaver Street to make a day of it, said Evans. If you want to venture outside of the market for a bite to eat, you can find pretzels at York City Pretzel Company, pork buns at Baron Von Schwein, sandwiches at White Rose Bar & Grill and gelato at Esaan Thai Restaurant, all just a short walk away.

The West Philadelphia Street,  East Market Street and West King Street garages in York offer free parking all day. Parking meters on surrounding streets will be enforced until 3 p.m.
