Party like it's 1999 at #ffyork

We'd be lying if we said we weren't totally stoked about this week's #ffyork.

First Friday's block party theme is bringing the noise...literally.

Strand-Capitol's got their offstage Brass Monkeys show, a Beastie Boys tribute band, kicking off at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) Due to rain, the event has been moved indoors. But we're sure it'll still be a ball.

Holy vintage, Batman!

Jessica Weikert's traveling style boutique Revolt Style Studio is finally opening the doors of its own space at 24 N. Beaver Street. Grab your wallets and head on over.

Spin a new sound

Listen. Discuss. Disregard. D&D Records & Apparel's storefront, a weekends-only special, will open their doors tonight with some tunes and some artists from the label aaaand some York City Pretzels. Check out the specialty record store at their grand opening tonight.

See more of the world...without leaving York

To celebrate their first year at 101 N. Newberry Street, The Rooted Artist Collective is opening an exhibition, "Wanderlust," with pieces from masters of their craft like Salvador Dalí, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso. Go for the art, stay for the live music and refreshments.

And, per usual The Beer Ace will be sampling some brews at the usual haunts like HIVE, Redeux, Creative York and Fosters Flower Shop.

Have the kids along?

Swing by York Academy's playground at 28 West North Street or try your hand at a craft corner St. Patrick School at 235 S. Beaver Street.

Say cheese

Camera Center of York at 24 North Beaver Street will make 4x6 in-store kiosk prints for 19 cents a copy. Flash 'em a grin and take home a print to remember the night.

Have fun!
